Assam Tea
Assam Tea usually forms the basis of many different brands of Tea, especially breakfast teas. Its strong in a malt flavour and offers a bright colour and rich aroma when brewed. Assam bushes are mainly grown around the brahmaputra river and due to the local weather conditions the bushes produce two yields per year.
The 1st harvest usually happens towards the end of march, while the second happens later on in the year. The Second flush (usually may) sometimes known as tippy tea also produces darker leaves with golden tips which offer a sweeter, richer and more full bodied taste over the first flush and is generally considered greater quality.
Where to buy?
Assam Tea is available in a large variety of forms and from plenty of retailers. However we think Whittards offer Assam at great value.
